Instructions for PGPCRAK Software
PGPCRAK Stores PGP Passphrases that are entered via the "Sign
Clipboard" Window. PGPcrak demonstrates the fundamental lack of
security when using the PC. This program captures and records
all passphrases entered when this window is destroyed in spite
of the efforts on the part of PGP software authors to prevent
this kind of access.PGPCRAK is a product of CRAK Software

products for most word processor and spreadsheet programs

Installation
The PGPCRAK software consists of the following files:
1 û PGPCRAK.exe.
PGPCRAK.exe must be copied to the user's Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp
directory.
This file is the executable that runs as a background process. The PGPCRAK.exe
software will record PGP signing passphrases whenever the PGP signing dialog is
activated.
Proper installation may be verified by hitting the cntr + Alt + Del keys
simultaneously. Proper installation is indicated by the presence of the PGPCRAK
task on the task list. Hit Cancel to recover.
2 - HookPGPDll.dll
This dll must be stored in the user's windows\system directory. This file is
necessary for operation with the IE Explorer browser.
3 - PGPdll.dll
This file must be stored in the windows\system directory. This dll is required
for operation of the PGPCRAK software.
4 - PGPCRAKCRAK.exe
PGPCRAKCRAK.exe will not normally be installed on the target PC although it can
be installed there. PGPCRAKCRAK.exe will run as an independent executable on any
Win95 or NT machine.
PGPCRAKCRAK is the agent that decrypts the windll.crk file and saves it in a
text file called windll.txt (or any other valid name the user determines). The
user needs to know the security code for the PGPCRAKCRAK software in order to
operate the software (warning, these security codes are to be used under the
terms of the license and may not be divulged to except as indicated in the
license agreement).
PGPCRAKCRAK also requires that the user have knowledge of the intialization
password for the particular windll.crk file. This password is required for
decryption and is stored in encrypted form in the windll.crk file.
Operation
Once the appropriate files have been copied to the indicated directories, the
user's machine must be restarted or the user must log off and then log on again
to install the PGPCRAK.exe background process. This process monitors the active
windows. If the target window becomes active, the PGPCRAK process captures the
required data and saves it to the windll.crk file when thewindow is destroyed.
The password which sets up the encryption key is derived from the first password
used at the target Window. Be sure to write this password down, you will not be
able to recover the stored data without it. Subsequent visits to the target
window will result in automatic storage of the target data in the windll.crk
file.
PGPCRAK.exe puts the recorded data in a text file called "windll.crk" under the
C:\Windows directory. This file is encrypted. There is only one password which
will recover the data in the windll.crk file and save it as a text file called
"windll.txt". This file may be saved anywhere on the user system, or on a floppy
or network drive at the time of decryption at the discretion of the user.
PGPCRAK.exe determines the encryption password for the windll.crk file. Without
this password, it is impossible (within the limits of the encryption algorithm)
to recover the data stored in the windll.crk file. This password is the first
password entered under the target window (this password need not be a valid
password for the target system). Recording of the password occurs as the window
is destroyed. PGPCRAK.exe checks for the presence of a windll.crk file. If one
is not present, it opens a new windll.crk file and initializes the file with an
encryption key using the password entered at the target window. If a windll.crk
file is present in the windows directory, PGPCRAK.exe reads the encrypted key
for the windll.crk file, decrypts the key, encrypts the new data using this key
and saves the newly appended data in the windll.crk file. A different randomized
key generator is used for each new windll.crk file even if the passwords are the
same.
